Hydrotherapy for Dogs

Low-impact exercise to aid in mobility.

How Does Hydrotherapy Work?

Hydrotherapy is a form of exercise directed at chronic conditions, post-operative recovery, and pre-operative or general fitness in our patients. Water increases circulation, ideal for the skin and coat. Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water – buoyance, viscosity, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure – to enable the patient to move their joints.

Being in the water makes the body buoyant, so when submerged, the weight of the body is supported. This means the patient is not fighting gravity. The buoyancy of water reduces stress on the joints and this creates a much safer environment for recovery.
